Talk at Globe City Gallery,
Malcolm Miles and David Buckland of the Cape Farewell project.
12th June at 6pm

Malcolm Miles, an academic and writer on contemporary art and environmentalism, will ask whether people who work in contemporary culture, such as artists, curators, and critics, have any significant agency in dealing with climate change - either in terms of the threats to sustainable life it poses or of awareness of the issues and contexts in which climate change has been generated.

Malcolm Miles is Reader in Cultural Theory at the University of Plymouth, and author of Urban Avant-Gardes (2004) and Art, Space & the City (1997).

David Buckland founder and Director of Cape Farewell will give a talk about his art and about the Cape Farewell project, which brings together artists, scientists and educators to collectively address and raise awareness about global warming. He will also talk about the work of the other 17 artists within the project. www.capefarewell.com

The Cape Farewell website was one of 5 winners in the E-Science category of the UN World Summit Information Society Awards, 2005.
