Seminar on Climate Change
Its immanence and the importance of taking action

Objective:
To raise climate change up the agenda of business leaders and decision-makers in North East England by communicating its relevance through the disciplines of science and the arts and helping to build a concerted, strategic plan of action to tackle the challenge, giving best business advantage.
The seminar is linked to the region’s appointment of a Climate Change Co-ordinator to produce an Action Plan for the North East, focusing on adaptation and mitigation. It is seen as a valuable way of building interest and support for the plan.
The day will involve include presentations by eminent leaders from science, and, TBC (subject to funding), a participatory, experiential learning activity for delegates by artist Michael Pinsky, involving a 'CarbonNeutral journey', designed to highlight and showcase positive personal and business practice and its financial benefits (in development).
The event will be targeted at decision-makers: senior managers and CEO's.Chief Executives, regional leaders from government, cultural leaders, academics, artists, media, heads of Local Authorities.
Partners include Government Office North East, the RSA, Northumbrian Water, The Environment Agency, NewcastleGateshead Initiative, The University of Newcastle, The Arts Council and Robert Muckle LLB.
