Robert Muckle
Robert Muckle takes its Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously. It already does a great deal with local community projects and has a £100,000 Chariatble Fund at the Community Foundation. It also has a strong assocation with the Arts, being a member of The Arts & Business Sponsors Club, and business partner of The Sage Gateshead, Tyne & Wear Museams, and the Theatre Royal.

The firm will be moving to new premises in late 2007 / early 2008, and is becoming more aware about its carbon footprint in the city. In choosing a new location for the business we have conducted surveys with our people on how they commute to work, and have chosen a site that is close to metro and bus links, as over 75% of our people travel to work on public transport. The new building will also have showers and bicycle provision to encourage people to run or cycle to work. We are also currently reviewing all recyclable opportunities and energy efficiency systems. The reason we have chosen to support this project is because we are currently undertaking a carbon footprint audit with Carbon Neutral Newcastle and by speaking to them we have been made aware that we all can make improvements no matter how small, to improve our carbon footprint.

Robert Muckle has always tried to set a good example to smaller companies to show that even smaller contributors can make a difference. We hope the profile we will get from sponsoring a project such as this will help motivate our own people to become more aware, and show other professional firms that we all should be doing more in educating our people, and doing practical things like off-setting and making seminars carbon neutral.

The project also sits very well with our ethos of supporting the arts and educating children in the region.
